Terms of Service

1. Agreement
By creating an account or using PistonMaps (the app or website), you agree to these terms with PistonMaps LLC ("PistonMaps", "we"). If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and you must hold a valid driver's license to use drive recording or navigation while driving.
2. What PistonMaps is — and is not
PistonMaps helps people discover and share independently organized automotive events and record their own drives. We do not organize, host, supervise, endorse, or insure any event listed on the platform. Event listings are created by users (or aggregated from public sources and labeled accordingly), and attending or hosting any event is entirely at your own risk.
3. Your responsibilities
- Obey all traffic laws at all times. Never interact with the app while driving. Drive recording and navigation features must be started before you set off.
- No listing, promoting, or attending illegal activity — including street racing, takeovers, or blocking roadways. Such content is removed and accounts terminated.
- You are responsible for events you host, including required permissions and how the event is run — as detailed in the Host Responsibility Agreement accepted by verified hosts.
- You are responsible for your own conduct and safety at events you attend.
- Post only content you have rights to; no harassment, impersonation, or spam.
4. Verification
Verified member and verified host badges indicate that an account passed our review process at a point in time. Badges are not endorsements or guarantees, and may be revoked at our discretion.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post and grant PistonMaps a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it within the service. We may remove any content or account that violates these terms or applicable law. If you believe content on PistonMaps infringes your copyright, email contact@pistonmaps.com with the content link and proof of ownership and we will review and remove infringing material.
6. Assumption of risk
Automotive events and driving involve inherent risk of property damage, injury, and death. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you assume all risks arising from your use of PistonMaps, including attending or hosting events discovered through it and use of drive recording, navigation, or performance-measurement features.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Routing, speed, and sensor data are estimates and must not be relied on for safety decisions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PistonMaps LLC's total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the acts or omissions of event hosts, attendees, or other users.
8. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold harmless PistonMaps LLC from claims arising out of your content, your events, your attendance at events, or your violation of these terms or the law.
9. Termination
You may stop using the service or request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk for others.
10. Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the app, and continued use after changes means acceptance. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and PistonMaps LLC. Contact: contact@pistonmaps.com.
